Studio work on: Blood of an Englishman, Video Clip 2008
The footage shows a few paintings of the Blood of an Englishman Series, being made in London during 2008.
In the film clip you will see the process of the blood being added to the salt solution. Note the colour changes that takes place, from where you first see the blood being exposed to air, to when it starts to dry and become encased within the salt surface. In a fast curve it develops from florescent reds to burgundy, then eventually over time it will become deep shades of brown, yellow and reds. During the transition your seeing in this clip, the body of the painting is starting it's metamorphosis from a liquid molecular structure to a hard crystalline state. Afterwards once the paintings have become dry, dependent on the environment they are placed within, they will carry on changing.
